Guns serve many purposes and if you keep a gun at home, they need to be kept in a container for safety and protection. The same is true with your ammunition. In fact, a number of states require a gun owner to have a gun safe. It cannot be denied that guns are very dangerous, therefore it should be kept away from people who do not have the training or experience in handling them.

Advantages of Having a Gun Safe

From family members especially children to burglars, your weapons must not be easily accessible. Plenty of incidents have taken place where kids hurt themselves or others while playing with real guns. It’s not enough to hide them in the closet, under the bed or worse under your pillow.

Apart from unauthorized persons, guns as well as ammunition need protection from fire, flood and other natural disasters. And of course, it’s always a good thing to keep your precious toys from rust, scratches and fading which every gun enthusiast understands.

Keeping Our Guns Safe
As a gun owner, two big concerns I have are having my guns stolen (and not having them when I need them), and having a gun of mine hurt someone accidentally. As every gun owner should know, lethal force carries with it responsibility. We want to keep our guns protected from theft. But we also want them to be ready fast — when we need them.
Just like when a St. Louis, Missouri dad needed to put down two bad guys who were using his 17-year-old-daughter as a human shield during a home invasion. When the Fox Reporter interviewed this hero father, he asked:
“How did you have the confidence to pull the trigger when they were holding your daughter? To which the man calmly responded: “I had no choice. He had my daughter. I did what I had to do.” Amen.
We need our guns to be kept safely, but ready at a moment’s notice. If we can’t get to them when we need them, then they’re nothing more than a beautiful paperweight.
Hiding Our Guns Safely
Gun safes keep our guns’ safe, but aren’t exactly built for quick and easy access. Sticking our 1911 in our nightstand drawer gives us fast access for when SHTF. Although my kids know to NEVER touch my guns without their dad (they’re little), they have friends over sometimes when I’m at work. You see where I’m going with this.

There are many advantages that a gun safe can offer such as those already mentioned. Your firearms are kept away from people who are not supposed to touch them, which is obviously the main purpose of the storage container. You are the only one who knows the code or combination so no one else will be able to open it.

Protection from the elements is another benefit. Fire is the most threatening incident since in can cause the explosion of your bullets or ammunition. It is also interesting to note that a gun safe can also be used to store valuables such as cash, jewelry and important documents.

If there is one disadvantage that a gun safe has, it is perhaps the time it takes to bring out your firearm when you are faced with an emergency situation. When you are under attack, for example, you need to have your gun right away. You can avoid this probability by finding and practicing the quickest method of unlocking the safe and getting hold of your gun. You also need to keep the combination or code in your head and try not to forget it.

Gun safes are a necessity for a gun owner of multiple guns, as is insurance,
You add up how much you paid for those guns, ammunition for each gun, multiple magazines, it will surprise you!
Of course safety, is #1 although I myself, don’t have kids living at home, and so far, no grandchildren, but when I go on vacation, it does cross my mind. My wife, and I, live in the country, we don’t have neighbors 10 feet away, it’s very safe, all of my neighbors are gun owners, and they are always shooting! When you live in the country, there’s very little crime because everyone carries a gun. Owning a gun safe is an important investment because the guns stolen, are of course stolen by criminals, that’s how criminals get their guns! When law abiding citizens buy guns we must fill out forms called FFL’s.
FFL’s are sent to the FBI, and before you can take possession of that gun you just bought, the FBI must clear you!
You see, the gun grabbers out there act like it’s easy to buy a gun, it’s not. They don’t want to talk about the enormous amount of thefts, putting guns in the hands of criminals, because the main stream media, is biased towards what ever idiotic thing left wing loony-tunes come up with, and they have an agenda, which is anything the left wants! Gun safes are however, quite expensive to purchase, but when you weigh the price of a safe, against the value of your guns, ammo, and magazines, and other valuables stored there, it’s a no brainer!
