You may remember that I recently did a review on one of the food buckets from

I was fairly impressed with the quality and taste from their 1-week supply buckets (minus the fact that they don’t have any that contain meat).

I also reviewed instafire (and wrangled up a coupon for you guys).

Well now they have something that combines the best of both worlds, that I think you will really like (and a massive discount to boot!)

OK, so I am in a survival situation and I open up my 8-serving pouch of stuff and have one serving. While I am surviving, the remaining 7 servings in the open pouch are going rotten.

Survival stuff, no matter how good, needs to be packaged in individual servings!

Generally, I like dry foods that won’t spoil: rice, beans, pasta, quinoa, etc. They are cheap and I know that I can prepare them if I can boil water, and that is almost anywhere.

There is a rule of threes: you can survive 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 hours without survivable temperature, three days without water, and three weeks without food. (Sanitation should be included somewhere in that list.) That seems to dictate what needs to be in a 72 hour bugout kit. But most bugout kits seem to emphasize FOOD. Somehow that seems wrong. Being eaten alive by insects, for example, is more miserable than going hungry. Yeah, some food is OK, but don’t make it the main thing. Warmth and water should be the main thing. With a little bug juice and toilet paper for luxury.

  2. Just tried to order this using the FOODFIREFILTER coupon code, but their site said it was not a valid code.
