    I wish these choices were around when I was a kid and my father was teaching me to shoot. I had to learn to shoot on a pathetic M-1 carbine that was a pile of crap, but Dad loved that gun.

    I would submit that the first gun for every youth should be single shot; weigh less than 4 pounds; us a .22 round (L/R) is fine; and require one extra step to fire. Good article, but the banana clip on the Ruger, is for me, a miss.
