It's getting to be that time again, folks. Thanksgiving has passed. Christmas and New Year's Day will also soon come to pass. Then, about midway through January, our favorite firearms show rolls out in full force. We've received previews of just some of the new products coming out for Shot Show, which I will be covering in-person and in great detail, and have decided to show you a couple of the ones I'm looking forward to seeing.
UNIMAG:
I guess it was just a matter of time before someone was innovative enough to make a magazine that would successfully chamber a plethora of different rifle cartridges. Of course, we haven't gotten our hands on it just yet, but they claim to be able to chamber six different types of ammo without malfunctions.Of course, this should go without saying but I'll say it anyway: You wouldn't put multiple kinds of ammo in the same mag and run it through one rifle caliber. But, common sense is a random thing these days, so I figured I put that out there. If you want more info about this product, check it out.
Side Charging AR:
I love the AR style rifle. It's what I was taught in the Marines, and is my go-to rifle of choice for when bad guys must meet their maker. However, there are a few things that suck about the AR platform. For example, having to remove your face from the weapon's butt stock in order to send a new round home after inserting a new mag into the well is just asinine. There are a few companies at SHOT this year with left-handed charging handles, so you don't have to worry about re-acquiring your sight. Here is one of the companies, if you're curious.80% Pistol Lower:
Unfortunately, this next company's website is down. Hopefully it comes back online, soon. Anyway, 80% rifle lowers have been an extremely popular topic over the past few years, and with good reason. I guess it was just a matter of time before someone grew brazen enough coconuts to actually do this with a Glock style pistol. The company says that you can use their lower and a Glock 40 or 17 upper and have a home-made pistol. Oh, it also supposedly comes with the jig, too, and only costs $135 smackers. Not too bad. Like I said, the website was down, but here is the press release for it.
Bullet Proof Hat:
While this hat is only bullet proof if you're shot in the forehead area of your head, it's still a bullet proof hat which is kinda cool. This is a great item for police protection, or just about anyone who feels that their grape is worth protecting against cartridges up to, and including, .45 ACP. If you want to check it out further, feel free. You can expect weekly updates about SHOT SHOW until we go all out for the show itself. We have been invited to the media day at the range, and plan to cover as much of the show as possible. Make sure you stick around because you won't want to miss anything.
