The race starts with participants jumping off a ferry into the chilling waters of San Francisco Bay then swim 1.5 miles to the shore. After that, athletes will ride their bikes through an 18-mile out and back route. The race will conclude with an 8-mile run into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
