What Do You Get The Prepper That Has Everything?

giveaway featured

I don’t know about you, but the thought of being pushed and shoved through crowds of people, makes me start to hyperventilate…

I'(or rather my wife) have spent the last few weeks compiling Christmas gifts for our families, mostly from the safety of our couch (thank you amazon!).

If you happen to be venturing out today, I wish you the best of luck and a safe return home.

But  there is one big question that needs to be answered…

What do you get the prepper that has everything?

I wanted to leave you with my thoughts on some of the products I have reviewed or have had submitted to me by members of the community.

These gadgets may be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to those last minute gifts for fellow family preppers (and even a few for yourself 😉 ):

Tactical On The Cheap

A flashlight can be the difference between getting home safely and stumbling around aimlessly in the dark.

Finding a good flashlight at a good price can be just as difficult… Most “tactical flashlights” are incredibly expensive.

Don’t get me wrong, they are awesome and effective, but I’d much rather have 10 OK flashlights that get the job done just as well for a fraction of the cost.

USPATRIOTGEAR TSHIRT

When I was at the NRA conference earlier this year, I almost convinced myself into buying one of these… but I just could not come to terms with $50.00 for a flashlight.

But check out this one that I found stumbling through amazon this weekend….

Incredibly Loud, Obnoxious, And Absolutely Necessary

A lot of times we get hung up on what’s the biggest, newest, “sexiest” gear that we can get our hands on it.

But when it comes down to it you need something that is going to work and do the job it was intended for without fail.

I wanted to take a moment and talk to you a little about a piece of equipment that is so small and inexpensive that it is forgotten about more often than not.

With school being out and summer camping season hitting full swing, it is more important now than ever to have a good whistle in your gear.

When you’re stuck in the sticks and the cell phone doesn’t work, the batteries on your walkie-talkie run out, and you’re otherwise SOL, the only communication you have goes about as far as you can throw your voice. (this isn’t as much a gift as it is a stocking stuffer)

This Keychain Could Save Your Life…

This Keychain Could Save Your LifeWhen I was around 16, my friends and I all got this wild idea that we would go out to a junk yard and use these little plastic “emergency hammers” to bust the windows out of some old broken down cars.

Why? I don’t think I’ll ever fully be able to fully answer that question; we were just a bunch of silly kids looking to have a cheap laugh.

We learned very quickly that these hammers are not all they are cracked up to be and that a cars windows are a lot tougher than your ordinary window.

Deal or Dud: The Bear Grylls Gerber Survival Machete

Usually I make my own blades and tools, but when I saw this survival machete on the shelf at my local Wal-Mart I had to have it.

I liked the shape of the blade, and upon picking it up it was clear that there was some weight to the blade.

Attempting to bend the blade while it was in the package proved difficult and it made it worth trying out.

It cost significantly more than the uber-flexible cheap machete hanging next to it, but paying for a quality product shouldn’t scare you….

Are you more of a do it yourself kind of person?

After all sometimes the best gifts are made, not bought..

Check out these do it yourself gifts from my friends at DIY ready:

Make your own Paracord Belt:

Paracord bracelets can come in handy but only have 8-12 feet of rope, while a belt can have up to 50 feet or more of rope. In extreme situations, 50 feet of rope would be a lot more use for you than 8-12 feet.

The length of rope that your belt will contain is determined on the size of your waist. For a waist size of 32″ you can approximate a length of 50 feet of rope. So, the larger the waist, the longer the rope.

With this particular belt buckle, you cannot tighten your belt. But don’t worry, it has a bit of a stretch because of the paracord, so you don’t need to worry about Christmas dinner.
