Gun Storage Ideas
Are you wondering how to keep your gun safe at home, in the office, or even in your car? Owners of firearms should be very responsible and careful in designating gun storage.
Guns may become dangerous when handled by the wrong people such as kids or burglars. To ensure the security of your firearms, you might want to consider the suggestions below on how to keep your pistol safe.
1. Table as Gun Safe
Tables are the most common furniture in all the areas in a house. There's one in the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, and even in some bathrooms.
Also, almost all places — homes, offices, schools — have at least one. Instead of simply having them as room accessories, why not consider them as secret compartments for your guns.
The bottom part of a tabletop provides great gun storage furniture. It is not visible to anyone in the house, making it an effective place to make gun safe.
Just stick your gun below the table top, and you'll have quick access to your weapon in case of an emergency.
2. Couch as Gun Safe

The cushions of the couch provide enough storage in the living room. The cushions can cover and conceal anything you put on it, making it good gun storage for firearms owners.
Just make sure not to put a lot of things beneath the couch so as not to make it bulgy. The least you want other people to notice is you're hiding a great amount of stuff in that area, particularly a gun.
Since couches are generally soft, they won't easily break or destroy your guns even when you or your family sit on them.
3. Stairs as Gun Safe
You may want to turn the hollow part below your home stairs into a spacious cabinet for storing items such as firearms. This provides liberty to firearms owners to store their guns in a place other people wouldn't commonly think of.
Just make sure to put enough security features in place such as a door and lock to ensure it'll be a pistol safe area.
4. Bed Mattresses as Gun Safe

You need to ensure security at home even during bedtime. Storing firearms beneath bed mattresses may have already crossed your mind to provide security against burglars at night.
Having your rifle safe very close to where you sleep will help you gain quick access to your weapon even during unguarded hours. Just like couches, the softness of mattresses will not easily break your gun.
Also, since mattresses are flat, there will likely be no chance your hidden firearm will accidentally fire when you lie on your bed.

5. Car Seat as Gun Safe

Security threats may arise while you're on the road, and so you'll need protection even when you're driving. Putting your gun below the car seat will give you quick access to your firearms whenever you need them.
You may want to avoid putting your guns inside compartments, which you still need to open or unlock just to get a hand on your weapon. Also, burglars will likely look into compartments when they want to steal items inside vehicles, so don't give them that chance.
6. A Refrigerator as Gun Safe
Who would bother looking at the back of any refrigerator at home? This area is good gun storage because it perfectly conceals items like firearms.
No one will suspect you will keep your gun safes in this very unlikely place. Also, in cases when unexpected attacks on your security happen in the kitchen, you have your quick access to your weapon in this area.
7. Cabinet as Gun Safe

This may be a common place to make your rifle safe. But still, nothing beats the security a cabinet provides to our home stuff. Apart from the cabinet itself, the additional stuff inside it may conceal your firearm effectively.
Tip: You may want to put some accessories on the cabinet door such as cartoon stickers to make it look like the cabinet is “harmless” storage.
8. Door as Gun Safe
The back of a door that is usually open can make a good gun storage. Anything behind an open door is not visible to anyone, and so, this can be a perfect secure area to put your firearm.
Just like cabinets, you may want to put some accessories like ornaments on the door so as not to arouse any suspicion on what's it.
9. Gun Safe in a Vault

There are security safe vaults created specifically for gun storage. These vaults make a perfect pistol safe in any place — whether at home, school, office, or even in vehicles.
Gun safe vaults may come in different shapes and sizes, but they all come with heavy-duty doors and locks that will ensure safekeeping. Security locks nowadays even come in different advanced features — numerical keypads, fingerprint scanning, voice detection, biometric safes, etc.
Some are even created to serve as fireproof safes. The only danger, though, is these security safe vaults appear to be pretty obvious and can become targets of burglars. Just make sure to secure the place where you'll keep your gun safe.
Also, putting guns inside a vault may prevent you from having easy access to your weapon in case you'll need one. In this case, make sure to have a password you can easily input and remember.
A lightweight portable gun safe vault may be a good option for storing firearms in any place you'd like. Here's a video from Nighthawk Custom Training Academy that shows different types of compact pistol safe vault you may have at home:
Keeping your gun safe is a priority owners of a firearm must seriously consider. While there are a lot of areas where you can conceal your gun, make sure these places will provide you quick access to your firearms and will ensure proper gun storage.

I took an old hardback book traced the guns shape on about page 20. Then cut out the book to the guns thickness. Now I am able to have this on any surface mixed in with other books and no one is aware it is there. Xacto knife made cutting easy.
Well done Dianne

Besides, why would I hide my gun safe?
If the feds were coming to confiscate, I would then hide my guns… or report them stolen.

Not sure how smart it is to use your name and show what High School your from then give the location of the gun safe.
Just for argument sake, everyone should realize that as soon as something new in the protection device community arrives on the scene, the word spreads quickly through the criminal grapevine. As soon as one enters a room they can spot those items, especially if the look out of place. Lockups are very good training grounds. It may be RFID protected, but brute force will crack eggs. So, people should be wary and careful about putting too much faith in anything, including gun safes.
We used to have panel covered walls, one piece was held on with velcro, so you could grab an edge and swing it away, worked great while we lived there. Then we had to move to another state and am unable to do the same in this house. I sure liked the other house so much better.
