You don't get to see people shooting a S&W 500 Magnum one handed every day. So, I figured I'd show you a couple videos of people shooting this power-house revolver. One is a guy giving it an honest to goodness try, and failing miserably; the other a woman who does it right.
First, here's an example of what not to do when shooting any gun one handed. Heck, even if shooting with both hands, you need to make sure you've got a good grip on your handgun of choice because this can happen in almost any caliber if you don't have a proper grip.
Furthermore, it's also never a good idea to take someone who's never fired a gun before, hand them the most powerful gun you can find, and tell them to shoot it one handed. Here's the video of a one-handed Smith & Wesson Magnum operator failure:
Now, I'm not sure the lady in this next video is using full-power loads. However, even if she isn't using a full-power cartridge, she's got a handle on this gun. What's the point? Women are just as capable as men are when it comes to shooting. Do they have some obstacles to cross? Absolutely.
But, no matter if you're a guy or a gal, all you need to do is practice as often as you can.
Which brings me to my next point. If you aren't practicing on a regular basis and training with people who're better than you are, you are wrong. Going to the range a few times per year is unacceptable when you consider what you expect your gun to do should the need arise – which would be save your life.
One thing I always tell people, is that the gun is only half of the equation. The rest of it is the operator: You. If you're not ready … If you're not trained, you'll fail like the guy in the first video did.
This is even more true with the crazy rioters snatching people from their cars and handing them swift beat downs. Here's the promised video of one capable lady behind a S&W 500 Magnum:
Now I have a question for you. Do you think this lady would get snatched out of her car and get her ass whooped? Or, do you think she's carrying a concealed gun, ready to defend herself and family at all costs? Anyone can and should carry a gun. It's your right to do so. Yes, women may be just as capable but the fact of the matter is they can come to range all month but they are only safe with a firearm in their hands three and half weeks at best.
