If you've ever wondered what a $200 homemade .50 caliber rifle looked like, look no further than these next two videos I'm going to show you. The first video, is the gun in use, and the second video is how YouTuber Royal Nonesuch got the thing to work.
*Disclaimer*
Whatever you do, think twice about trying to make this thing at home, because the .50 is a big-assed round that can do a lot of damage if it isn't done right. Think about it like this, even professionally manufactured guns blow up from time to time, and they are built in the perfect setting. So again, think twice.
Moving on…
There are some things that are a bit sketchy, that I'd want to work out a bit more before any more test-firing is done. If it were me, I'd change some things. For example, while it's great that it sits on a tripod, the mount is very light and really isn't heavy enough to keep the gun planted firmly to the ground. As you'll see, the gun does a back-flip whenever it fires a round.
It even flipped after he put a cinder block on it, to help weigh it down some more. In all honesty, he probably needs to design it more like an M2 tripod, where it sits lower to the ground and can actually place something with some weight behind it. It needs a lower center of gravity with some weight. Until then, it's just dangerous.
I'd also like to see a butt-stock incorporated onto it at some point. I think it'd be possible and beneficial to the firing experience once it is more reliable and he knows it won't blow his face off. Overall though, this guy stuns us again with another awesome build. Keep up the good work, and stay safe, Royal.
