In this American Tactical 1911 review, you will know all about the American Tactical FX45 and find out if it matches what you need in a gun!
American Tactical FX45 1911 Review: Power and Affordability
The American Tactical FX45 1911
There will always be a special place in my heart for a 1911 pistol. It's a popular, classic handgun even my own grandfather adored back when he was still in service during World War II. Because of its popularity, there are a lot of brands and models out in the market, and one of them is the American Tactical FX45 1911.
This beauty from the American Tactical Supply has all the features you loved in 1911 at a price point that won't break the bank. With its compatibility with various brands of 1911 magazines, the FX series is certain to have the 1911 pistol enthusiasts set for hours of satisfactory shooting.
Gun Specs
The American Tactical FX45 has a 5-inch barrel with 4140 chrome-moly steel. It has a 7+1 mag capacity. This semi-automatic, single-action pistol has a matte black color and a blue finish.
It is 8.46 inches long, 5.28 inches in height, and weighs 37 ounces. The sight, both front and rear, is military-style. The grip is made from mahogany with a checkered pattern.
Ease of Use and Performance
Most 1911 enthusiasts know how accurate and powerful the pistol John Browning designed is. The American Tactical Fx45 1911 is no different.
The fixed barrel design makes this pistol more accurate than any other handgun on the market today, given the shooter has the right skills to shoot a handgun. And the power? Extremely superb. Powerful enough to take down and put a big hole in its target.
Pros and Cons
First of all, this pistol won't cost you an arm or a leg and it's a good catch, knowing most of the 1911 pistols can cost $700 to $1,500 or even higher. The power you adored from 1911 is there. One thing I noticed about the ATI FX45, the trigger is crisp but a bit stiff.
Sometimes this pistol shoots low and the sight is far from being precise. Clearly, this pistol is built for close-range defensive use. But like most 1911, if everything is tweaked right, this pistol will give you the performance you desire in a handgun.
Overall Verdict and Price
Shooters Arms Manufacturing in the Philippines adheres to the original specifications of a 1911 pistol – a close replication of the looks and feel of the iconic and timeless handgun.
The American Tactical FX45 1911 is undoubtedly an entry-level handgun that shooters can upgrade to fit their personal requirements. For a price of $399, this pistol is definitely worth having.

I would definitely recommend this pistol to anyone who wants a dependable recreation of John Browning's classic.

Although I am a huge Ruger and Rock Island Armory fan, I have been looking to acquire an ATI 1911. I am impressed by the quality and price. I think it would be an excellent base for a truly tactical 1911.
I have the ATI .45 1911 and I love it. It shoots so smooth, I just fell in love with it just after the first round!
Having owned a Colt .45 for years and then having the chance to shoot this exact gun at the range, I would (and probably will) have bought this gun over the colt. It seemed to be a bit heavier, which made it come back for a second shoot a bit quicker, but it was a true pleasure to shoot, and a lot less money than other .45’s!
It’s a great 1911. I have fired much more expensive 1911 and they functioned no better at 3 times the price. Also you got the gun Magazine info wrong. The ATI FX45 magazine holds 8 rounds not 7. That makes me think you really did not get your hands on this FX45 1911…you did not even know how many rounds the magazine holds…LOL! I know I have a FX45 1911 and have 3 eight round Mags not 7 round Mags!
A 1911 action does NOT feature a “fixed barrel” as this article indicates. I have no idea if this pistol does or not. But if it does, it is not a 1911…
It doesn’t. It’s a typical 1911 in every way.
My wife wanted a Government Model 1911, and I got her one of these for Christmas. She loves it, and so do I. It shoots great and is very reliable. These are underrated 1911s and I would stack them up against guns costing twice as much.
I’m well pleased with another Philippine 1911, namely Armscor/ Rock Island.
But the price seems very right.
Does ATI make it in other calibers?( I’m interested in a good, reliable, and inexpensive 10 mm 1911 handgun).
Is this built on the original 1911 blueprint or the 1911-A1?
I have a Armsco RIA 1911 Tac II model , bought it when the price was still low. I have not been disappointed in this gun. WELL worth more than I paid. Im planning to buy one of the America Tactical 1911. Im not afraid to buy these weapon made in Philipines .
