The Chiappa 1887 Lever Action is a firearm with excellent reliability and function. It's a 12-gauge shotgun with enough qualities to give firearm enthusiasts something to think about.
Chiappa 1887 Lever Action Shotgun
The Chiappa 1887 Lever Action is another gun inspired by the legendary John Browning. The same gun design was originally made for Winchester to elevate the popularity of the lever-action shotgun. It was said that Browning actually wanted to promote the pump action at the time.
Apparently, he was right about which gun type would be favored more by shooters, as the pump action shotgun lived on up to this day. The lever action, on the other hand, ceased production and became a favorite among gun collectors.
This lever-action shotgun by Chiappa has a barrel length of 22 and 28 inches and is available in blue and nickel finishes.
It has bead sights and walnut stocks that make up the gun's overall weight of 9.3 lbs. The feeding system features a 5-shot mag capacity that shoots 12 GA shotgun ammunition.
Ease of Use and Performance
It's fun shooting this gun especially when you get ready for your next shot. It feels like one of those old Wild West cowboy movies making use of the lever action as they load another ammo in the gun chamber.
You could really feel the firepower as you pull the trigger though shotguns don't have the type of accuracy rifles are built for.
Pros and Cons
I want to say the lever action really caught my attention and I find it really cool. But then again John Browning is right about the pump action shotgun as a more favorable feature.
The 1887 lever action is a fine piece of firearm but they stopped manufacturing these guns a long time ago.
Overall Verdict and Price
A thousand bucks should be a fair price for this Chiappa shotgun. It's still one heck of a firearm to use even today, and you don't see this often in gun stores.
I wouldn't buy this for the price it's sold in the market, but I do know a lot of gun aficionados who wouldn't have second thoughts about purchasing this gun.
This is what it looks like shooting the Chiappa 1887 Lever Action shotgun:
These old guns are still fun for the sport and are kind of a gauge on how much you understand shooting. Some folks look at a certain firearm seeing only how beautiful it looks. For the real gun enthusiasts, however, they tend to examine every aspect of the weapon from the trigger, to the barrel, and just about everything from butt stock to front sights. Besides, it's always interesting to know how it all started.
