Keanu's 3-Gun Course: Where Does He Stand on the Gun Debate?

What is a 3-gun course? 3-gun is a shooting course using three types of firearms – a shotgun, a rifle, and a handgun. The shooter will go through a series of long distance and short distance shooting to showcase his skill with each gun type.

Mr. Reeves' Impressive Skill with the Gun

Keanu Reeves is no stranger to guns, with his countless gunfight scenes on the big screen. I can honestly say that his skill and command of each weapon is nothing short of amazing.

It certainly looks like he participated in numerous gun competitions in 3-gun nation. Being an A-list star probably affords him some of the best training available.

While this video is on Keanu Reeves' gun training for movies, we wonder what his stance is on guns and the much-debated gun control or the second amendment.

Is Keanu Reeves Pro-Second Amendment?

Keanu Reeves got many of us gun enthusiasts excited with his video shooting a 3-gun course layout. This may be only part of this training for his hit movie John Wick, but we're excited just the same.

It is not every day we see these Hollywood A-listers go on an action-packed training shooting guns. I was curious, though… Where does Mr. Wick stand on the second amendment and on American's basic right to own a weapon for self-defense?

So, I did a little digging. Surprisingly, or not — depending on how you look at things— he doesn't take the same stance of your average movie star.

Instead, he has been quoted by independent.co.uk as saying: “You mean should citizens be able to have a weapon? Yeah, why not? I am not fundamentally against citizens having access to a weapon, but I think that it has complications, the use of it. It's probably not the wisest thing. Personally, I don't own a weapon.”

I really wish he would have expounded more upon what he thought the complications were, and what isn't the “wisest thing,” but the fact remains that he isn't against people owning guns. At least, he wasn't back in 2008 when this interview occurred.

In my own opinion, this is a much better stance than the garbage most celebrities spew whenever they condemn the 2A. Perhaps, even the Baba Yaga-killer steers clear of the anti-second amendment mob.

At least he's not being hypocritical about it like many of the actors who are rabid pro-gun control yet star in a dozen or so action movies involving guns. It's frustrating to see these so-called actors or social justice warriors take a hit at law-abiding citizens and not the perpetrators of a crime.

Here's a novel idea: just entertain us and leave the politics to those who are paid to be politicians.

I have said for years the words liar, idiot, liberal, democrat, & hypocrite are all the same definition, guess we can add hollywood elite to that. With there personal bodyguards, private guarded schools for their kids, secure homes, etc. I suppose they don’t need a private weapon, same applies to politicians, they are all hypocrites! Hillary fired 2 people for using private e-mails to send messages, & those were not top secret! Because it was aganist rules & regulations of the State Dept., yet it’s o.k. for a democrat of her status to break the rules.

  2. TomSJr says:

They will go to HIS house first. And, when the govt/Police cannot get all the guns, what will they do when riots break out and the people who do STILL have guns, begin shooting back?

This is why WE, THE PEOPLE, good, hard-working LEGAL Americans need to stand UNITED under one common goal: THE BILL OF RIGHTS FOR AMERICANS and that includes our 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms. The ONLY way they will take that away from me is IF THEY KILL ME FIRST. But, I am too prepared. I will at least, get 99,999,999,999,999 rounds off first if the come to my door for gun confiscation. WHAT A HOOT.

I was impressed with his skill just thought he needed to clean up the transition from pistol to rifle and rifle to pistol. A little clumsy with the holstering.

    1. Johann says:

I worked in security, and at the range I was surprised at all of the guys (especially at many right out the military) who couldn’t shoot that well. Even worse, they were slow to draw and clumsy to holster – often having to look at the weapon and the holster to be able to do it. That’s one important skill that very few people practice – and you don’t have to be at a range to do so.

I guess Youtube took it down because the video was not available.

Diane, Thanks for the letting me know that it was a broken link. I fixed it, for you viewing pleasures.

  5. Arturo says:

So, to be clear, this is an article about his opinion on gun control wherein you say you don’t want his opinion because as an actor he’s not allowed to have one…unless he agrees with your opinion..in which case he IS allowed to have an opinion….. Um…okay.

    1. RWS says:

You’ve a point, Arturo. Regrettably, many people in America today want to be ruled by career politicians and informed by actors and athletes. The essence of the American polity — that the ordinary adult human being can govern himself, directly responsible only to God, his neighbor, and himself for his own actions — seems to have been forgotten and traduced by more and more people.

Perhaps this is inevitable when people now come to America just for material benefit, with no thought of either societal obligations or spiritual state.

      1. Nematocyte says:

There is nothing in our founding documents that state we are responsible to any god.

  6. Mikial says:

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. My issue with so many actors is that they are complete hypocrites who blather about the need for gun control or the complications of citizens owning guns, while getting rich portraying people using guns in every way possible. The other aspect of actors, or celebrities in general expressing their opinions is that they have a natural forum to express that opinion to a lot of people while most of the rest of us are pretty much restricted to a very small audience. Finally, celebrities seem to think they’re experts on pretty much everything and everyone else needs to listen to their opinions just because they are famous for some narrow specialty like acting (essentially getting rich pretending to be something they are not), signing or being able to catch a football. A great example of this is the singer Otep, who regularly expresses her opinion that the Republican Party should be disbanded and Conservative men killed. She calls it Menocide.

  7. longrangeshooter says:

he’s full of shit, he owns weapons but is afriad of what the liberal elites would do to his career.

    1. Gypsy says:

From personal knowledge, of which I can’t go into detail. Regarding Keanu Reeves, you are incorrect.

  8. Kurt says:

Who gives a damn about actors etc where all in the same boat when it come to this kinda stuff. Ive been a shooter and collector for 30+yrs now. And no joke ALL our rights are under fire but the 2nd is the hottest due to a some unhealthy but preventable mishaps. YES the amount of mass shootings are terrible (even just one) etc but compared to the amount of legally owned private guns out the amount of shootings is minuscule in and hate the way the anti-gun jobs add in their numbers of too many shootings, by adding all the shootings combined eg: the bad guys and also the ones by us good guys aka the police and all of us responsible gun owners who were unfortunate to have had a shooting incident happen because of home defense or personal defense issue and had to use of their firearms.

All you gun owners out there you HAVE TOO write or reach out to both your state and federal representatives and the ATF etc Join and support all the great Pro-Gun organizations who fight for all our rights dont forget we lose the 2nd we lose the 4th as well. Speak up people these attempts at crushing the 2nd is a fight that will never end what needs fixing is our metal health and security measures everyone of these mass shooters had warning signs that either family, Drs or Law enforcement that were too slow to act on them or actually pushed aside and or ignored em.

    1. Kurt says:

One last thing about anti-gun actors the most staunch anti-gun actor atm is Tom Cruise who is such a incredible hypocrite as he makes hundreds of millions per film where you see him using those very same guns he wants banned shooting and handling the guns very very Irresponsibly same goes for a lot of the anti gun fanatics. Fingers on triggers, NO muzzle discipline and so on. Again Hypocrites and liars all of them.
