Hygiene isn’t something that comes up a lot in survivalist circles, but it’s very important. Healthy hygiene habits can stop the spread of germs and disease and even help with morale. Shaving is part of hygiene, but it can be hard to keep razor blades sharp for a long period of time.

Survival is all about being able to get through challenging, difficult, and seemingly impossible circumstances. This includes the time when SHTF and its aftermath. Through Survival Life and other sources, we learn many things that we need to know in order to be prepared for that dreadful day and strive to get through it no matter what and how long it takes.
There are skills that we need to learn and practice, and there are tools and gear that we can set aside in a bug-out bag in a corner of our home or in the basement. However, we forget one of the most basic skills that we need to do on a regular basis and that is personal hygiene.
One of the more challenging parts of survivalist hygiene is shaving. Razor blades can become dull and be hard to sharpen. Luckily though, there are things you can do to help keep your razor blades sharp.

These days I have been doing a lot of thinking about my daily hygiene and beauty routine as it relates to a long term survival situation. I don’t want to appear frivolous but for me, feeling clean and looking nice are an important part of feeling good about myself in general. I do not think that my thoughts in this regard are limited to women and in fact, the Survival Husband feels much the same way, albeit without the need for a touch of lipstick and blush.While an article on survival hygiene is long overdue, today I want to share with you a great tip for increasing the longevity of razor blades. Some might say that surviving a disaster, an act of terrorism, war or whatever you imagine an EOTW scenario to be would require that we focus only on the most basic and most important things such as food, shelter and clothing.
It is only right that we also have to take health into consideration.
If we want to talk about enduring difficult times and crisis situations, we must remember the popular phrase, “survival of the fittest”. Being fit in this case is not just about being physically strong; it is also about maintaining cleanliness. It is a well-known fact that maintaining good personal hygiene goes a long way in protecting us from bacteria and it ultimately helps us live longer. Think of it as part of being prepared.
We may not know when the world will end exactly but keeping ourselves clean today will ensure that we might be healthy enough and live long enough to see that day and survive it. On a lighter note, taking good care of ourselves and making it a habit is simply a great way of prolonging our lives in the present day.
