The ability to build your own pistol isn't really anything new.
People have been building 1911 pistols for years, though their reliability is questioned. And, the fact that you have to pay close to, or more than, $1,000 for one is ridiculous.
How about the option to build an untraceable, un-serialized polymer pistol based off of a Gen 3 Glock for about $700 (the cost of everything you need, minus any taxes).
Say hello to the Polymer 80 Spectre. The Spectre is an 80% finished polymer pistol frame that comes with the jig and all the tools you need to finish it (minus a drill press) for just $155 (according to the interview below taken at SHOT Show 2016). (as a side note, it's available right now for $135!)

The end result will be a versatile handgun. Because it is based on a Gen 3 Glock 17, there is a range of calibers you can use, with the replacement of minimal parts. You can have one chambered in 9mm, .40S&W and .357 SIG.
