This is the ideal gun if you're teaching your kid how to shoot by simply starting him from .22 caliber rifle, then all the way up to the .410 gauge shotgun to gradually accustom him with the shotgun's kick.

Gun Specs
This single-shot break action rifle is available in different barrel lengths – 18.5 inches, 22 inches, 23 inches, and 28 inches. 12, 20, and .410 gauges can be combined with .17 HMR and .308 caliber.
It weighs 5 to 6.3 lbs depending on the barrel length that comes in either matte nickel or matte blue finish. The rear sight is adjustable, while the other end of the barrel has front bead sights.
Ease of Use and Performance
Changing from rifle to shotgun barrels and vice versa is pretty easy. The barrel can be secured right in place with a screw that also doubles as a loop for your sling.

Both barrels are accurate, though the shotgun does have a bit more kick than the rifle as expected. The receiver is made of solid steel, which makes it very durable.
Pros and Cons
This rifle-and-shotgun combination saves you energy when you need to bring both types of firearms on a hunt. Both barrels are nice and accurate, though there are times when the 410 gauge shotgun misfires.
The butt-stock of the Rossi Matched Pair is hollow so you have to be careful not to drop it on hard surfaces.

The Rossi Matched Pair is still a good buy for starting shooters.
At a price range of $199.99 – $225 it's compact and can easily be stored or carried in backpacking or hunting trips. This firearm is reliable and can also be used for home defense.

Probably a good article I don’t know. I couldn’t read it with all the friggin crap around it.
If it is a single receiver & all of the barrels would fit on it a full collection could make a good survival package.
I’ve had a Matched Pair for years, and find that it does everything it’s advertised to do, and more. With fewer moving parts, and a tight lock up, a single shot like this is inherently accurate! It’s a fine, lightweight, versatile hunting tool.
I’ve had several friends over the years that owned Rossi products, and they either love them, or hate them. Me? Make a 20, or 12 gauge with a swappable 223/556, and then I might get interested. On the seriously up side? If you have a kid or grandkid that “might” be interested in shooting or hunting this could be an entry level item that wouldn’t break the bank should they end up not liking shooting sports.
It is available as a 12 or 20 & .223 have 2 one for a Big out & 1 for my son that was purchased when he was 8 (11 years ago) also have a .308-30-06 and a .270 barrel to swap out. Plus a .410 insert for the 20ga a machinist turned on his CNC when he bought 1 a few years ago when he retired from the company he was working for. Only made 3 for friends & ATFE decided he needed a manufacturer license, as a barrel insert was a firearm & he couldn’t afford to fight them. The Rossi singles are tight & reliable (the ones I have or friends) the pistols are variable & no matter the brand if I can’t hold it in my hand I don’t buy it. Burned by S&W, a Glock 43 that was a real lemon was end of buying online. Glock fans will scream but QC has dropped with everyone in last few years.
Sold mine 2 yrs ago. Came with .22lr with adjustable sights, 20 guage bead site and 243 tapped. I played around with the 22 and 20 ga for a while before hunting season only to find the tap for scope mount were not only stripped but misaligned as well. My fault should have taken a scope to be mounted when i picked it up.
Had this combination for a few years very nice and reliable! Great for training hunting camping and bug out!
Have had one 22/410 for many years. Always worked great. Great for teaching children. 22 shoots very easy, 410 kicks a little hard for smaller children
Now if they can make everything fit into the stock like the AR7, it would make a good survival / backpack gun, it might be better to make it into a an over under 22 / 410 / 45 long colt to cut down on weight then I’d be interested
