Handguns Reviews

The Taurus PT92 handgun is very similar to the Beretta 92 in terms of design and appearance, you'd think they're the same model. Read on to learn more about it.

Where Did Taurus PT92 Originate?

In the early 1970s, Brazil made a decision to stop producing their military issue .45 ACP 1911, and adopt the Beretta 92FS handgun. Beretta was used by NATO forces as a standard issue sidearm.

A huge contract with Beretta was set in place along with a factory in Brazil, which was later bought by Taurus, a Brazilian gun manufacturer. This gave birth to the Taurus PT92, which utilized the same gun design after Beretta 92 patents expired.

Copied after one of the most proven firearms in battle, this gun from Taurus is a shooter's favorite. If you're on a budget and you want a nice gun, this is not a bad way to go.

Gun Specs

The Taurus PT92 is a full-sized semi-automatic pistol made in Brazil. It has an alloy frame with a stainless steel slide and a barrel length of 5 inches.

|

The overall length of this gun is 8.5 inches, a height of 5.6 inches, and weighs 34 oz unloaded. The Taurus PT92 magazine has a capacity of 17+1 rounds.

What Is Alloy? It is a combination of metals or a metal with other elements to promote mechanical strength, resist corrosion, and preserve important metal properties while reducing the production cost.

Gun Control and Performance

The PT92 is a beautiful, well-balanced handgun with an impeccable finish.

|

It's accurate and feels good in your hand even after long rounds in the range. This is one of the top shooting guns on my list.

Pros and Cons

This firearm is closely similar to, and even known as the clone of, the Beretta 92. This tells us something about the reliability of this gun. I like the 5-inch barrel with its fixed sights, this gun is really accurate at about 20 yards.

|

It has a really smooth action and fits perfectly in your hand. Though, the placement of the rail is not quite good when the surefire light is attached in relation to the trigger guard and your index finger.

I believe this part needs a little modification. For Taurus PT92 mods, these handgun modifications will give you ideas and hacks.

Overall Verdict

Aside from the Taurus PT92 price which is about half of what a Beretta costs, a few changes to this handgun make it worth the purchase.

|

The material, design, features, and overall comfort of this firearm lived up to a lot of the shooter's expectations. It's one of the many quality guns that makes shooting even more exciting.

I own one in Stainless. it is by far on of the best shooting guns I have. Very very accurate out past 25 yards and light on recoil. If you want reliable right around $ 500 you should buy one. Taurus lifetime warranty too. I have at least 10000 rounds thru mine in 11 years and it still looks brand new inside and out. ( seriously). I did have the locking block crack but easy fix. or warranty. ( same block as Beretta)

I’m a Glock fan, but rapidly becoming a Taurus fan. I own a PT 809 and love it. Looking lovingly at a TH9. Will these mags interchange? If not, where can I get mags for my PT 809?
