You've Heard About Build A Bear, But What About Build A Pistol?
No doubt that, by now, you've made it to one of the leading automotive manufacturer's websites and have clicked “build your own” car, truck or whatever you were looking to build. Basically, you have the ability to put whatever options you want inside of your car. You can change the color, electronics package, towing package and just about anything else you can dream up.
Heck, you can even choose to warm your backside while driving with “heated seats.”
Well, some gun manufacturers are doing the same exact thing, when they take orders for their guns.
One such company is Texan 1911 builder Republic Forge, who took the time to explain their website to me at the Great American Outdoor Show, in Pennsylvania.
Their website lists all of the ways you can get your 1911, and has drop-down menus to choose different calibers and barrel lengths, all the way up to different colors and sights. However you want your new handgun to look and feel is possible, but you'll have to pay for it.
Prices start in the mid-2K range, going up from there depending upon the “options” you choose for your new vehicle…er, 1911.
And of course, they won't just ship it out to you. They'll send it to your gun dealer to make sure that all of the proper background checks are done, first.
What do you think? Would you buy a gun like this? Personally, I like to dream with new cars as I periodically build one on a website. However, when it comes time to buy, I'll just go to the dealership and buy whatever they have on the lot because I'm an American, and I want what I want, and I want it now!
