Shooters Should Know Before Getting the IWI Jericho Pistol 941

Introducing the IWI Jericho Pistol 941

The IWI Jericho 941 sub-compact 9mm is a popular Israeli-made variant of the iconic CZ 75. Many shooters hail the Jericho for its controllable firepower and smooth double-action/single-action (DA/SA) mechanism that makes shooting multiple rounds super easy. The gun is used for both military and civilian purposes.

It's also quite popular in modern pop culture. In fact, it was featured in the 2016 movie War Dogs as the go-to handgun by arms dealer Henry Girard, played by Bradley Cooper. The movie had some scenes shot in an Israeli setting.

Gun Make and History

The Israel Weapon Industries (formerly known as Israel Military Industries) launched the IWI Jericho 941 in 1990. Through their collaboration with importers from the K.B.I. Inc. and CZ 75 clone manufacturer Tangolfio, they were able to ship the first batches to the U.S. in the early 90s as well.

IWI Jericho 941 Features

The Jericho is a short-recoil, DA/SA 9mm-caliber semi-automatic pistol manufactured by the Israel Weapon Industries. It has a compact length of 8 inches, stands at a measly 5.37 inches, is a slim 1.31 inches wide, and weighs 38 ounces. They come in polymer and steel frames.

Based on the specs alone, you can already see that it's quite a small, compact handgun. That's why many shooters use it for close-quarters combat and everyday concealed carry situations.

Functionality

IWI Jericho 941 is a versatile, functional pistol. It's a bit heavy, but experienced shooters can work around this and still utilize the weapon for close-quarters combat and fast-paced shooting.

Also, it's very durable. Israel Weapon Industries designed the gun for long-term shooting in hot, desert conditions. It's no exaggeration to say that the gun can withstand daily use without suffering from too much wear and tear damages.

Accuracy

As with any other handgun, expect the first double-action shot to be a bit difficult to aim. However, the Jericho pistol has an outstanding single-action mechanism that makes follow-up shots extremely easy to aim and fire.

Ease of Use

The IWI Jericho is very easy to shoot multiple times. It has a smooth, fast-acting DA/SA mechanism and its heavy frame absorbs most of the recoil. Even first-time shooters should be able to go a few rounds with ease.

Although, the smooth Jericho 941 grips leave much to be desired. If you live in a warm area and you're hands are prone to sweating, consider replacing the handgrips. Otherwise, you'll have trouble handling the gun.

Concealed Carry Application

Unfortunately, the IWI Jericho 941 is quite heavy for a handgun, weight at 38 ounces. This extra weight makes it impractical for long hours of concealed carry application, especially for newbie shooters.

Although, those who don't mind the additional ounces can opt to use the Jericho for concealed carry. After all, there's very little chance that one would be put in a shootout that would last long enough for one to start feeling the weight difference of a heavier handgun.

Upgrades

IWI Jericho 941 upgrades are available. Look into rougher grips, sturdy steel frame holsters, and sight upgrades for maximum accuracy and functionality.

Price Value

The IWI Jericho 941 is a versatile, functional handgun. However, there are plenty of other semi-automatic pistols in the same class that cost far less than these handguns do. It's not the most cost-efficient option on the market.

When and Where to Use the IWI Jericho 941

Bear in mind, however, that the IWI Jericho 941 does have its limitations. It's ideal for emergency purposes such as home defense and protection.

The recoil is easy to handle, so almost anyone in the family can shoot a few rounds if the need arises. Plus, it's compact. You can easily store this in your nightstand or bedside drawer.

Although, we wouldn't recommend using the IWI Jericho in situations where you'll have to carry it for hours on end. As we mentioned earlier, it's quite heavy.

For example, if you're looking for a handgun for hunting, you might want to consider other options first. The IWI Jericho 941 has enough firepower to take down strong game such as coyotes and wild boars, but the weight might make the hunter feel uncomfortable on long trips.

Plus, it has a smooth handgrip. So if you have sweaty hands and are hunting under the heat of the blazing sun, you might end up compromising accuracy and firepower control.

The same issues apply when using Jericho pistols for concealed carry situations. They provide excellent, controllable firepower and top-notch single-action accuracy. Sadly, some shooters might feel uncomfortable having a heavy 38-ounce handgun hanging around their waist.

Although, if you're confident in your ability to use heavy handguns under pressure and carry them around for hours on end, by all means, try the Jericho. Apart from the heavy frame, shooters don't really have much to complain about.

Should shooters consider adding the IWI Jericho 941 to their handgun arsenal? Definitely!

The Jericho pistol is not for everyone, but it's undoubtedly an amazing handgun that provides excellent value. For around $500, you get a 9mm-caliber DA/SA semi-automatic pistol that's compatible with C5 75 magazines.

Check out this video by sootch00 where they do a comprehensive review of the IWI Jericho pistol 941 and take it out for a test drive:

Is the IWI Jericho pistol 941 worth your money? Yes! It's a hard-hitting handgun equipped with a DA/SA and packs little recoil, so it's very easy to shoot multiple rounds.

The only downside is it has a smooth grip panel and the weight might make some shooters uncomfortable. However, if you're using it primarily for home defense, you wouldn't be put in a situation where you're holding the gun long enough to experience any of the disadvantages.
